[Prey MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE MEETING April, 2024 — The East Orange City Council met on April 8, 2024, at 5:30 PM. in City Council Chambers, 44 City Hall Plaza, East Orange, and New Jersey. Adequate notice of such meeting was duly given in accordance with law, by publication in local newspapers and by posting on the bulletin board outside and within City Council Chambers. All members of the public are expected to conduct themselves in a proper manner. Any derogatory, abusive or threatening statements will not be permed. The Chair wil immediately rule Such conduct out of order and terminate any further comments 1. Theresa Wellington- stated needs to understand the truth in renting and mul dweling. She has been taking her own garbage out in hr building which she is no responsible fo. She is also concerned about rent increases, would like guidance from council members on what buikding owners are authorized to do. 2. Virginia Jeffies - Stated ths meeting sin violation of Open Public Meetings Act because it was not given 48-hour nolice (per the Statue). Stated committee agendas were posted twice because of amendments. Aso stated comments of public was from previous meeting were incorrect. She wanted to make sure that her previous comments were corrected, and all her comments were based upon the Statue and required to be done by law under the Open Public Meetings Act not a persona request by Ms. Jeffries. 3. Mathew Fudge- Stated came to a city council meeting 1 month ago about the building he fives in at 75 North Walnut Street and i stl having drugs, prostitute and a loitering problem of peaple hanging in the building. He stad has emailed 2 council members and went o the police department twice and there has not been a resolution. Also stated this buiking is becoming more dangerous because there are no ‘cameras and drug dealers are in the building and there can be a possible shooting where someone can be severely hurt 4. Perter Raminzia- Stated he has been an East Orange resident al his fe wanted o introduce himself and will be opening his business in the cly (a food trailer) and will be lobbying with Corhort also discussed the restrictions of parking in the city and in the next few months he will come back to get permission to park his food trailer in a authorized area 5. Aziza Kibbi Miguel Ayinde- staed an East Orange resident and Essex County employee and founder of organization Presious Little Ladies whose mission s to end sexual abuse of chidren and gender-based violence. Commended the city council for their contribution and support and raising awareness of sexual abuse. She also thanked Mayor Green, City Counc, Chief Bindi and Department of Recreation for partnering and supporting her event the past weekend. She also shared her personal testimony of sexual abuse and again thanked the current city adminisiation for their support, progressiveness and willingness to be open and recognizing sexual abuse is a issue that needs to be addressed. 6. Brother Lamar- stated GOD bless the United Clergy and spoke about Good Friday Services in East Orange. Church services held at Greater Stone Baptist Church on No. 18% Stet by Pastor Nils Wilson. Mentioned his church Faith Temple Church and the message was by Pastor Blue was hope and sil believes there s hope for our youth in East Orange. Mentioned Muka Tyrees's mother whose son was Killed in 2021 and wants to keep his name and legacy ave. Stated Dr. Martin Luther King 56" anniversary assassination was on April 4" also informed Lawrence Hamm and his organization Peoples Organization for Progress holds a march and rally in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King's Legacy with a diferent theme each year and this years theme was in support of Palestinians.
